The primary objective of the ONE Association is to assist its Members through development of cooperative solutions for sharing and dissemination of bibliographic information and library materials.Members of the ONE Association agree to share their respective resources among each other in order to facilitate direct access to of the collections of books, serials, other bibliographic materials and databases that are managed by the participating institutions.

The ONE Association does not operate any systems on its own.
Common services are provided through agreements with ONE Member institutions and external contractors.
a. Software used:
The ONE SR-Service utilise facilities maintained by LIBRIS.
The SRU-to-Z39.50 Gateway is maintained by the British Library and TEL.b. New features:
The ONE Common SR-Service provides access to bibliographic data produced by the British Library, Library of Congress , LIBRIS and others.
The SR-Service is based on the ONE Specification for Z39.50 (Bath Profile) and ZiNG SRW/SRU (TEL Application Profile).
The ONE Web Service and common Web/Z39.50 gateway is maintained by the National Library of Hungary.
ONE will support ordering and delivery of electronic resources among Member institutions including the British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC).
The ONE Profile is based on the NISO NCIP protocol.
The ONE Shared Authority Control project (ONESAC) supports searching and linking of authority data with different ontologies.
The internal structure is W3C RDF and the database contains over 30 million searchable relations.
The ONESAC project involves Members of ONE together with LC and other partners and the system is maintained by Portia I/S.
