We are an active participant in the process of communicating knoowledge within Wageningen UR. We acquire and select scientific information, safe it, describe it and give acess to it, according to international standards. We provide readers with information and assist them in using it. We provide writers with a publishing environment. We learn students to use and judge scientific information.

ISOBAS, a locally developed Library information System. (circulation, cataloguing, serials management, acquisitions, document delivery, database publishing. Database running on HP 3000 machine, Applications running on Linux and HP3000b. New HW, SW, other:
Rebuilding ISOBAS. Moving from a MINISIS dbms environment with a mixture of web based and terminal interfaces. To a XML, XSD, XSLT based environment with only web based interfaces. Underlying dbms will be Oracle. We call this a Library Content Management System.
a. Software used:
Our catalogue is a union catalogue of a network of life science libraries. Our union catalogue is part of the Dutch National Union Catalogue. Holding information is synchronized with the National system in real time.

We have a repository of scientific publications of Wageningen UR. It is OAI-PMH compliant and developed within our Library Content Management Systemb. If so, what is new in your digitalization programmes:
We have connected the system with an research project management system, used in the University. It receives metadata of publications from this system.c. Based on external sources:
We run an ERL server and catalogue many digital resources in our catalogue. We have just implemented SFX to enable Open URL resolving.d. Important commercial web services accessible to your users:

EDD is a part of the Library system. Book scanners communicate with the library system to update the Requests database and upload scanned PDF's. Users are autmatically mailed with a temporary URL to find a requested document.
DARE programme (Dutch Academic Repositories) boosts some projects in the area of usage and management of digital repositories.
